Terry Cunnane

Musical Director

Born in Manchester Terry has taught in East Anglia for over 20 years.  Since leaving teaching, Terry is now in great demand as a pianist; playing in  Cambridge, Norwich, Snape Maltings, and London.

A burning desire for music was ignited at the age of eleven when he opted to study piano: later going on to Nottingham University to study under Glynn Davies and  Dennis Todd.

Terry later trained for a year as a conductor with the Association of British Choral  Directors in London and was the Musical Director of the Great Yarmouth Choral Society.

Terry also works with the Pakefield Singers, Beccles Choral Society, and Halesworth Festival Voices and is regularly invited to play solo pieces. He is a guest accompanist for the female choir Libricini.

Recently he played for The Military Wives Choir Tour for their sell-out performance in Norwich Cathedral and conducted a Junior Schools Choir in Norwich Cathedral for the Inspiration Trust.

Terry also accompanies soloists and composes and creates arrangements for voices, and instrumental groups. He strongly believes in the wide-ranging beneficial effects of music itself as well as in its ability to bring together a wide variety of people.

Mark Thompson

Accompanist

Born in Malvern, Mark was educated in Ditcham Park, Hants and Douai Abbey, Berkshire – both Benedictine-run private schools.  At Ditcham Park, he started piano lessons at the age of 8.  At Douai, he went on to study organ and flute in his final year

On leaving school in 1974, Mark qualified as a chef before joining the Royal Air Force where he served for 22 years. His musical skills were much in demand playing organ for local Sunday services and assisting military bands while stationed in Germany.

However, his most notable event must be playing for ‘The Panto’, Mount Pleasant Airport, Falkland Islands. On leaving the RAF Mark became a mobile library driver and still enjoys this role more than 23 years later.  Mark became the Poringland Singers’ accompanist in 2004 and enjoys the challenge of their wide-ranging repertoire.
